A word that so many of us use everyday, but we often dismiss its meaning and understanding when life becomes blurry.
What is an example of dismissing its meaning?
From a personal standpoint, I lost focus for a period of time during the process of fulfilling my purpose in getting the message of Love Naturally out to the world.
I was dealing with the pain, hurt, sadness and disturbance I felt when I lost my brother in 2013 to a motorcycle accident—and at times, I still have to refocus. I often found myself confused on the inside, because this accident happened eight days after my brother turned 28 (no one knew we were planning to launch the message together). With life happening, my focus was off. In fact, I wanted to give up! But God saw my need.
The more I wanted to stop life, the more God would direct my focus back to Him, which said me from myself.
You may be thinking –as I read this, what does all of this have to do with me?
It’s in the process that we have to continue to remain faithful to what we’re supposed to focus on in our everyday life. When we go through life being intentional, we focus on what it is that’s true to our hearts. There will be times where your focus might be thrown off by…well, life!

When things start happening that distract you from falling in line with what’s deep rooted in your heart, your focus can become blurry. Meaning, the center of what God wanted you to focus on tends to lose its way. Not because the purpose left, but because our focus is not on Him and the destiny He has planned and prepared for you and I.
Beautiful people, nothing happens just because.
If you’re reading this posting it’s because He wants you to get focused on your purpose, or continue to stay focused even when life (your destiny) becomes a little blurry. Because we’re human, we will fill true emotions when life happens. It’s in those emotions that we don’t deny our truth, however, we give our truth to God and allow Him to deal with our reality that’s causing us to be unfocused.
Know that you too can awaken your focus. How?
1. Admit your truth to yourself and God. (Speak to the hurt and pain by acknowledging that it’s there.)
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” ~John 4:24 KJV
2. Forgive yourself for being unfocused.
“…for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” ~Jeremiah 31:34 KJV
3. Allow Him to show you how to regain your focus that’s part of your destiny.
“I took my troubles to the LORD; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.” ~ Psalm 120:1 NLT
Whether it’s a relationship, your career, finances, the loss of a loved one, or even dealing with self–God wants you to focus back on what you are destined to achieve. This is a process, so allow yourself grace in the midst of your refocusing.
Thoughts to ponder…
As you go through life, know that it’s a process. And in this process, the things that were blurry will become clearer. The pain that was there might still be there, it just becomes more manageable, and the wondering of “what’s next” will be answered because your focus is in alignment with your destiny.
Loving You Naturally, Elbonie
Last year, I met the Founder of Love Naturally, Elbonie Metcalfe at a TheSingleWivesClub event in Atlanta. We were both vendors. I believe we connected spiritually, but it was over the word QUALITY that we really began to buss it up. Although, I don’t own one of her tees yet, I was clear that her brand delivers a quality product. I so appreciate her energy too and I thank her for being a #ShesEngaged woman!
P.S. For the month of February, the #GetEngaged Pledge is all about FOCUS, so if you’re ready to AWAKEN your focus, CLICK HERE to join the pledge now! If you wait to join in march, you’ll miss February’s downloads.
